What we like most about Look Mexico is that they absolutely require interaction from the audience. Whether you’re spinning their amazing new 7-inch, Gasp Asp, at home, listening to the critically acclaimed 2007 full-length, This Is Animal Music, on your iPod or watching the boys tear it up live in a sweaty house show basement, the music practically begs for you to sing and dance along with it.
At the same time, you’ll be mesmerized by the intricacies – the tiny, integral pieces of Look Mexico’s songs that somehow fit together in perfect harmony. The band is one of those rare examples where the sum of its parts is greater than any individual contribution; each kinetic guitar note rings out, dancing around playful bass lines while songs are propelled by spring-loaded drums and served up to the listener with warm, sincere pop hooks. Alone, each member is undoubtedly a skilled musician. Together as Look Mexico, they are unquestionably something special.
